Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities concluded he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under house arrest.

The ex-president was found guilty of planning a military coup in the ninth month and handed more than a 27-year term in incarceration, but he was staying under home detention pending appeals.

High Court Judge the presiding justice said the move to detain the elderly politician was a precautionary step after recent developments came to light.

This involved attempting to break his tracking device and a invitation to a demonstration that could facilitate a possible escape.

Legal Document Reveals Flight Fears

In a document approving the detention, the judge said intelligence from the facility tracking Bolsonaro's house arrest suggested the ex-president's "intention to break the tracking monitor to ensure success in his escape.

This, it said, would be made easier by the disorder caused by the demonstration called by his offspring.

His offspring, his son Flávio, who works as a senator, called for a gathering of his supporters near Bolsonaro's home to take place on Saturday evening.

The senator wrote on digital networks on Friday: Will you battle for your country, or see it all from your mobile device there on your sofa? I invite you to struggle with us."

He said the gathering would be so backers could "pray for his well-being and for the reestablishment of democratic governance in our nation."

Diplomatic Refuge Fears

Part of the magistrate's ruling was the possibility of his transfer to embassies near the home, considering that the probes revealed a record of planning to request asylum through a diplomatic representation", a declaration said.

The court filing emphasizes that the United States embassy in the national capital, Brazil's capital, is positioned around 8 miles from his dwelling.

International Reactions

The former president's legal troubles have generated frustration from fellow populist conservative American leader Donald Trump, causing him to enact a fifty percent tax on imports of Brazilian goods.

The former president is being held in a Federal Police station in Brasilia and will have a imprisonment assessment on the following day.

Latest Court Petitions

It was only on the previous day that the ex-leader's attorneys asked the Supreme Court to allow him to fulfill his full incarceration period under home confinement, with tracking devices.

They also asked that the former president be authorized to leave his home for medical treatment, saying he required regular treatment for lung conditions and other health problems.

Details of Guilty Verdict

He was determined responsible of leading a scheme aimed at maintaining his control after he lost the 2022 election to his political opponent, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Supreme Court justices said that he knew of a scheme which encompassed plans to kill his opponent and his vice-presidential running mate, Alckmin, and to detain and kill the presiding judge - the High Court judge who has been managing his judicial proceedings.

The conspiracy was prevented because it couldn't obtain the endorsement of the armed forces officials. The current president was sworn in without incident on 1 January 2023.

But a seven days after, on the eighth of January, thousands of his followers attacked and damaged official structures in the capital, Brasília.

The security forces took action and around approximately 1,500 persons were detained.

The magistrates found that the protesters had been incited by the former president whose scheme, they said, was for the country's army to take action, bring back stability and reinstate his authority.

At the period, the legal team called the decades-long sentence "absurdly excessive.

He was also banned from seeking elected position until 2060 - a decade minus two years after the conclusion of his imprisonment.

The ex-leader called the trial a "witch hunt and said it was intended to stop him participating in the next presidential race.
